I first discovered pottery making in the mid-70s when I took an adult ed class with a friend in Annapolis, MD. After some life changes, I finally got back to wheel throwing while living in Manassas, VA. Moving to the Roanoke area in the late 2000s introduced me to the Blue Ridge Potters Guild and a studio in Vinton, where I continued to do mostly wheel work. I have since taken up hand building and enjoy it very much. It gives me an opportunity to use texture and learn which glazes give the best effect on textured pieces. Strictly a hobby potter, I still enjoy playing on the wheel at home. I’ve added a kiln and slab roller to my inventory, and love working in my home studio.
