On my 50th birthday my wife gave me a pottery class as a gift. At 83 I don’t think a week has gone by without touching clay. I consider myself a hobbyist when working with clay, as it is all for fun and personal satisfaction. In my 60’s, I went to Hollins University and completed a master’s degree in visual arts. I now teach beginner pottery with an eye toward engaging other adults interested in getting dirty with clay. My work is both functional and decorative, but most importantly, fun to make.
